One of the best feelings comes from seeing another Black girl going after her goals. And if you can do so in style, more power to you! I teamed up with someone close to me to get the inside scoop on her personal style and current projects. I love hearing about successful women who are on different paths of their journey, so I hope you enjoy this post as much as I enjoyed putting it together!
Meet Kelcy! Brooklyn native, West Indian, and style maven. She’s currently a junior psychology major at the University of Hartford and will get a degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. Kelcy and I went to Peaches in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn to catch up over some Southern comfort food.
The highlight of our conversation was discussing Kelcy’s current project: Blossom Be You Project
Here are the details:
The “Blossom Be You Project” is a six week women empowerment program that focuses on self love, sisterhood, and personal development, focusing on high school girls ages 16 through 18. The program consists of several workshops that help with networking, resumes, self love, beauty, and etiquette skills (Exactly what young women need to talk about).
Her goal for this project is to provide emotional stability, vital skill sets, and resourceful tools to help these young women advance daily.
In the near future Kelcy hopes that her organization becomes a success, pushing her potential of being a great mentor to teenage girls in the urban area. Secondly, her primary goal is to continue on the right track in school in order to graduate with honors next year. And last but not least, she wants to TRAVEL! (Don’t we all?)
Good food and our future plans took our time at Peaches, but the Bed-Stuy neighborhood was the perfect backdrop for two stylish Brooklyn girls.

This was a wonderful post. I enjoy hearing, talking or in this case, reading about females empowering one another. It’s a beautiful thing. I’ve always wanted to go and have brunch at Peaches. Heard so many great things about the restaurant. Can’t wait to check it out.
And lastly, you guys look fabulous. I’m enamored with both your coats. Such gems. Have a good one. 😊
Love! Love!
Power to Kelsey on her project, I wish her all success💖
