Any chance I get to brighten an outfit, I’m taking it. When I wear black, I particularly seek out pieces that can take the bland color scheme to another level. To brighten the color black, I love to find a metallic to run counter.
My current outfit is a black collared dress with short sleeves and a white collar — extremely simple. Because it’s winter and I live in New York City, I have to be somewhat warm but definitely cute. So I paired this black dress with my metallic oxfords and metallic puffer jacket — shamelessly doing the most.

Metallic is perfect for the winter for several reasons:
- Bright colors aren’t common in the winter, so clothes tend to be darker colored. Wearing metallic brightens your outfit without looking like you’re in the middle of July.
- Aesthetically, metallic will appearing pleasing to the eye and brightening against white snow and even dark clouds.
- This is a trend you can wear year round; it’s feasible in every season.
