Staying in Neutral: Transitioning from Summer to Fall

As much as we try to hold on to summer, it never stays for long. While summer is my favorite season, I know many people love fall for the cooler weather, nature’s changing color, and the fresh start of school and work. This summer I made an effort to live in the moment and have the most fun I’ve ever experience in my 20+ years of life. I had an immense amount of fun with friends, partying and enjoying time with loved ones in Grenada, and taking a break from school.

However, the warmth and long hours of sunshine are (almost) behind us as we transition to fall. Although I’ve never been a fan of fall (or winter and spring when I think about it), I’m making an effort to embrace the season more, starting with my wardrobe! This fall I am focusing on neutral colors and earth tones. I figured that if I go for a certain look (something much more refined than what I wear for summer), I will enjoy the season much more.

These looks are very simple and school-friendly. I am currently in law school, so being in a professional school environment makes me very mindful of the clothes I wear. But don’t worry, I plan on showing some more fashionable options!

My first look is a utility jumpsuit that I am absolutely in love with! I paired it with my favorite jeweled sandals. I did not accessorize the jumpsuit much because I was going for a more refined, less-is-more look.

My next look is another very simple, neutral look for the warmer days of fall. Because it was close to 90 degrees out, I wore my Zara slippers and opted to have my legs out along with short sleeves to enjoy the sun. My top is a mock neck so you can comfortably wear it during colder days to cover your neck, just add a sweater!

Top: Anthropologie
Skirt: H&M
Slippers: Zara

I went shopping recently and got a ton of neutral colored clothes and shoes that I plan on styling very soon! For the first time in my life I am excited for fall and of course I have my clothes to thank. What I love the most about neutral colors is that they instantly make an outfit more chic and refined. That’s definitely the look I am going for! This fall try to stick to a theme or color scheme and see how creative you can get in your closet.
